Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is being kept with the Chile national squad despite concerns over a hamstring injury picked up this week.
The Gunners had wanted the 27-year-old to return to London after this scare, with Arsene Wenger slamming Chile’s approach to the player’s fitness as ‘suicidal’.
Sanchez is one of Arsenal’s most important players, particularly after establishing himself as first choice striker after making the move up front this season, and Wenger knows he cannot afford to be without him for too long.
The Frenchman already faces the prospect of taking his side to Manchester United without Sanchez next week, and will be fuming that Chile are not letting him come back to England.
According to La Tercera, the South Americans have gone against Arsenal’s wishes and will keep him around to be looked at by their own medical team.
Wenger said this week how much the international break and threat of injuries stresses him out, and it’s little wonder when countries are so unwilling to work with clubs.
