The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG) and the Conference of Edo State non-governmental organizations have flayed the security advise from the Police and the Department of State Services, DSS, that instigated the poll shift as poorly timed and wrongly presented.

Chairperson of TMG, Dr. Abiola Afolabi-Akiode, at a press conference where she was flanked by representatives of civil society groups in the state alleged undercurrents stirred by security operatives to undermine the electoral process.

She said, “we recall that similar concern was raised during the 2015 general election in the North- East Zone and INEC it appeared, was able to conduct elections in the Boko Haram ravaged region. It is our opinion that there are undercurrents in the security apparatus who are trying to suppress the electoral process.”
