The Blues are on a fine run of form at the moment, but missed out on a number of their top defensive targets during the summer, leading to a surprise deadline day move to re-sign David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain.

While the Brazilian has largely impressed on his return to Chelsea, Conte is understandably keen to look to the future and replace ageing figures such as John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic, who have featured less regularly this season.

According to Squawka, Chelsea are looking at big names such as Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci, AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli and Roma’s Antonio Rudiger, all of whom were also on the club’s radar in pre-season.
