Nevin feels Conte deserves huge credit for improving the atmosphere at every level of the club, including in terms of the noise from the home crowd.

‘This season has witnessed a massive increase in noise levels and you have to say that the passion of Antonio Conte must have a lot to do with it,’ Nevin said.

‘The continuous singing of his name over the past few games underlines it is a two-way street of course, but the atmosphere is if anything building week on week.

‘It helps if you are winning of course, but even in some of the bad days last season Chelsea home fans did their best to raise the team’s spirits.’
