Accoding to reports, the Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday adjourned hearing to October 19, 2016 in a suit over an alleged attempt by the present administration to Islamise Nigeria.


The case is before Justice A.O Faji of Court 1.

The suit, number FHC/ASA/CS/11/2016 was filed by Dr. Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe on behalf of Nigeria Civil War and Genocide Research Network.

It alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President Bukola Saraki and House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, were out to Islamise the country when the government allegedly among other things, sought funds from the Islamic Development Bank or Islamic bond otherwise known as Sukuk.

The plaintiffs averred that since Nigeria is not an Islamic state, such an action by the government is a violation of the Constitution and therefore should be stopped
