Eden Hazard has revealed what went on in Chelsea‘s dressing room at half time of last season’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham that officially handed the Premier League title to Leicester City.

The Belgian ended up coming off the bench to net the all important equaliser against Spurs that night on the 2nd of May, denying their visitors any hope of ending their long wait to finally win the title.

Chelsea and Tottenham have a long-standing rivalry as two big-name teams from London, and Hazard says this desire not to see their strong record against them slip was a big motivation for their comeback from 2-0 down.

‘That was the best memory of last year because of the rivalry with Tottenham,’ Hazard explained.

‘I was on the bench, we were losing 2-0 at the break and had been up against it, and at half-time we were in that dressing-room saying: “Lads, it’s 26 years since we last lost to Tottenham (at Stamford Bridge). This isn’t the day that record is going to end”.

‘It kick-started us. Gary Cahill scored from a corner, and then my goal… Even a 2-2 draw felt like a victory because it had been such a difficult season, and we knew we had wounded our local rivals in Tottenham. Leicester were the ones who really enjoyed that night, of course.’
