Arsenal eased into the fourth round of the League Cup with a 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest thanks to goals from Granit Xhaka, Lucas Perez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Xhaka opened the scoring in superb style mid-way through the first half, the new signing rifling home from distance for his second goal in four days.

Perez then doubled the visitors’ lead just before the hour mark, making no mistake from the penalty spot after Chuba Akpom had been brought down by Michael Mancienne. before adding a second 10 minutes later.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then sealed the win with a fine late goal, racing through on goal and finishing clinically.
