Manchester United star and England captain Wayne Rooney has escaped punishment from the Football Association after reports that he drunkenly gatecrashed a wedding last week.
The 31-year-old was snapped with members of a wedding party in a hotel after England duty, leading to widespread criticism of his actions in the press afterwards.
Rooney, however, has insisted he did nothing wrong, and the FA have taken the same line after investigating the incident, according to the Daily Mirror.
England manager Gareth Southgate did not impose a curfew on his players, nor a no-drinking ban, leaving FA bosses satisfied that no action needs to be taken against the Three Lions skipper.
Rooney’s place in the England fold is still understood to be under some threat, however, after a dip in performances for club and country this season.
