Marouane Chamakh admits he’s still annoyed at the ‘lack of respect’ he was shown by Arsene Wenger during his time at Arsenal.

The 32-year-old, who joined Cardiff City on a free transfer earlier this week, spent just two seasons with the Gunners but scored only 14 goals in 67 appearances.

The Moroccan barely featured under Wenger just a year after he joined from Bordeaux on a free transfer, while he was sent out on loan to West Ham in the final year of his contract.

Asked if he is unhappy with his time at Arsenal, Chamakh told RMC: ‘Yes, it is clear that I am a little annoyed with him [Wenger] because I think I deserved more playing time than what I was given.

‘As the year began, at the start of the season, he told me that we might change formation and I would maybe be able to play up front with Robin [Van Persie].

‘They were nothing but promises, nothing happened. For the aims that I had, I think it was a little bit a lack of respect.

‘I started well and then the next day he shades me out like that.’
