Egypt forward Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick as AS Roma thumped Bologna 3-0 in Serie A on Sunday.

The win took Roma above AC Milan into second place on the log, four points behind leaders Juventus.

The former Chelsea star opened the scoring in the 13th minute after meeting Diego Perotti’s low cross and then found the net after an excellent counterattack after being picked out by Kevin Strootman in the 63rd minute.

He would than complete his second career hat-trick from a rebound after Edin Dzeko’s effort was block in the 71st minute.

The three goals take Salah closer to equalling last season’s tally of 14 league goals as he has now scored eight in only 12 appearances.

Luciano Spalletti’s men are now unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions, and Hector Cuper will surely be hoping that the 24-year-old replicates his form for Egypt ahead of their crunch 2018 World Cup Qualifier against Ghana.

Salah was on the scoresheet when Egypt edged the Republic of Congo 2-1 in the side’s opening encounter, and his latest hat-trick is exactly what Cuper needed from his marquee player ahead of the international break.

The Group E encounter between Egypt and the Black Stars is scheduled for November 13 and will be held at the Borg El-Arab stadium in Alexandria.
