Former Green Eagles and Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan defender, Ogbein Fawole, is dead.

Fawole, according to an online report, died on Monday evening in his Lagos residence.

Fawole, who captained IICC Shooting Stars during the ill-fated final of the African Champions Cup now (CAF Champions League) against Zamalek of Egypt in Lagos in 1984, died of heart failure, otherwise known as cardiac arrest, according to his immediate younger brother, Harry Ogbein.

The remains of the defender has been deposited at the morgue pending the decision of the family for his burial plans this week.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Oyo State, Hon. Abayomi Oke, and the Oyo State FA boss, Chief James Odeniran, have joined in mourning with the family of the deceased.

While reacting separately over the sudden occurrence, Oke described Ogbein’s death as shocking and another big loss to the Oyo State football family after losing an active member of 3SC in Bayelsa State.

Fawole is survived by a wife and four children.
