The Blues head to Southampton on Sunday afternoon and will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a disappointing defeat to West Ham in the fourth round of the EFL Cup in midweek.

There were some doubts surrounding Terry, who played against the Hammers on Wednesday, but it appears the defender could feature at St Mary’s this weekend.

‘John came back from an injury and it’s not easy to find the right shape, but I’m satisfied with him and the team,’ Conte said at his Friday press conference.

‘John is an important player for us, if he plays or if he doesn’t play, for the changing room and the club.’

The Italian boss also confirmed that Fabregas, who has not played since mid-September, remains on the sidelines for the league fixture.

Ivanovic, meanwhile, has been passed fit for the trip to the south coast.
