As part of efforts to stem violent crimes in Rivers State and restore peace in the crisis-ridden communities of the state, the governor, Nyesom Wike, has given militants and cultists involved 60 days to embrace amnesty or face prosecution.
The governor made this known yesterday when he inaugurated the State Amnesty Programme Committee.
The committee has as members, representatives of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS). The Special Adviser to the Governor on Amnesty, Sir Ken Chinda is chairman.
Wike urged the committee to interface with different cult groups for the purpose of retrieving arms from them.
