Elliot reportedly walked president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, through the corridors of power for goverment to eventually release N100million for the team to fly to Zambia last weekend.

The Eagles went on to beat the Chipolopolo 2-1 in Ndola and currently top their group with three points .

Before then, Pinnick made desperate efforts to get the Senate to intervene with few days left to the game. He was told to present the accounts of the NFF’s sponsorship earnings since last year, before anything happens.

Elliot had to use his connections, to arrange for a meeting with vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo, who directed a memo to be put up.

“Elliot is now a politician and also a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and it was he who brokered a meeting for Pinnick with the Vice-President,” a top government source informed AfricanFootball.com

“It was at this meeting that the Vice-President directed that an emergency memo be put up and routed through the sports minister.

“And that was how the government finally released 100 million Naira to the NFF for the World Cup qualifier.”

  1. Let this Pinnick account for the Sponsorship money. NFF would when queried by the Federal Government for money given to them without proper account, they would hide behind FIFA as an independent organization that Government must not interfere in their activities. But NFF keep going to collect money from a body that cannot query them. Please give account of the money you received from Sponsors or resign, let others who will give account take over. Then, when you are out of Office, DSS or FiFA may come and probe. You fall our hands. I think say, you be star, you no fit provide simple Income and Expenditure Record. Na him be say, some people don chop sometin!!!

  2. This is part of the reason Africa is backward in all areas of development
Lack of effective management and good administration is really militating against Africa's growth
It doesn't have to take the use of any connection by Elliot or anyone for government money to release the money required for the eagle's World Cup qualifiers
There should be a robust system in place to ensure things seamlessly work like it is done in advanced nations
It's quite shameful that we should be reading this sort of outrage in this modern world
