A claimant to the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the upcoming Ondo State election, Jimoh Ibrahim, has alleged that a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission demanded a bribe of $1 million from him to obey the court order naming him as his party’s candidate.
A court had a fortnight ago said Ibrahim was the PDP candidate and not Eyitayo Jegede, who emerged then as a factional candidate with the backing of the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
Sequel to the development, Ibrahim has sent a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The petition was also sent to the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu.
Ibrahim alleged that a member of staff of the commission demanded the bribe from him before she could collect his nomination papers from him.
He revealed this at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday.
The petition was dated October 21.
