A claimant to the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the upcoming Ondo State election, Jimoh Ibrahim, has alleged that a staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission demanded a bribe of $1 million from him to obey the court order naming him as his party’s candidate.


A court had a fortnight ago said Ibrahim was the PDP candidate and not Eyitayo Jegede, who emerged then as a factional candidate with the backing of the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

Sequel to the development, Ibrahim has sent a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The petition was also sent to the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu.

Ibrahim alleged that a member of staff of the commission demanded the bribe from him before she could collect his nomination papers from him.

He revealed this at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday.

The petition was dated October 21.

  1. Hahaha.. Ogbeni Jimoh, why are you crying foul? I am sure its not because you have high morals that you are blabbing to the media. If you don't mind name me a position of authority that you have occupied without exploiting? I am certain that if you and INEC have agreed a certain amount, nobody would have heard of it..
