It was gathered that the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has welcomed the recent report published by Amnesty International, AI, detailing the alleged killing of 150 pro-Biafra activists by Nigerian soldiers, but pointed out that the figure was not a true reflection of number of its members killed from August 2015 till date, which is the period the report covered.

It declared that, within the period, over 2000 of its members have been killed, with another 750 still missing.

A statement issued on Thursday by the group’s media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, commended AI for standing bold to condemn the crime against humanity as committed by the government of Nigeria and her security agencies, but urged the body and other relevant human rights organizations like the Human Right Watch to make more enquiries and investigations into the barbaric killings against IPOB members.
