John Terry will be given the option to join the Chinese Super League next year with Guangzhou Evergrande set to offer a mega-deal to tempt the Chelsea captain away from Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old defender, who is already an ambassador for the Chinese club managed by former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, could be offered in excess of £8million-per-season, according to the Mail.

Terry, having been with the Blues since the age of 14, graduating from their youth ranks to eventually become their captain, was widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer before new manager Antonio Conte offered him a last-gasp 12-month contract extension.

However, having lost his place int he first team due to an ankle ligament injury picked earlier in the season, Guangzhou Evergrande are hoping to swoop to finally prise Terry away from his boyhood club.

Manager Conte, who has deployed his new 3-4-3 formation to devastating effect at Chelsea, has preferred to use Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta, as his preferred central defenders.

Guangzhou Evergrande have already signed former Spurs midfielder Paulinho and Colombian hotshot Jackson Martínez as their marquee signings so far.

Evergrande recently claimed the Chinese Super League title, winning the league by nine points ahead of Jiangsu Suning.
