Jose Mourinho revealed he received a phone call from Diego Maradona following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were by far the dominant side in Saturday’s lunchtime encounter but were forced to settle for a point after Olivier Giroud’s 89th-minute equaliser for the visitors.
Juan Mata had earlier put United ahead, neatly sweeping the ball home with his left foot after an incisive team move.
Naturally, United manager Mourinho was disappointed that his side failed to take all three points but a post-match phone call from an old friend lifted his mood.

“After a great perfomance but a bad result I had a phone call from King Diego. Gracias amigo,” Mourinho wrote on Instagram.
“With you, with my family, with other friends, with my players and with United’s amazing supporters… on Monday i will be ready again!!!”
United are next in action on Thursday night when they welcome Feyenoord to Old Trafford in the Europa League.
Mourinho’s men will be eliminated from the competition if they lose and Fenerbahce beat Zorya Luhansk in Istanbul.
