Jose Mourinho is known for creating a siege mentality at all of the sides he’s managed – and Manchester United is no exception.
To help form a strong bond with his players and coaching staff, it’s reported that on the club’s flight to China for their pre-season tour, Mourinho left his seat in business class after learning that his backroom team were put in the economy section.
It’s claimed that Mourinho sacrificed the luxury of first class to sleep on the floor of the aeroplane with his non-playing staff.
‘They could see there were no airs and graces about the new manager and that really impressed them,’ a United source told the Daily Mail.
Following Louis van Gaal’s strict regime, Mourinho has reportedly made it a more relaxed atmosphere at Old Trafford.
Cameras used to monitor players in training, which were Van Gaal’s idea, have been scrapped, while Mourinho’s squad are now free to sit where they like during meals in the canteen.
United will be looking to extend their unbeaten run when they face City in Saturday’s derby at Old Trafford.
