Juan Mata will evaluate his future at Manchester United ‘more seriously’ at the end of the season, according to the midfielder’s father.

The 28-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea for a then club record fee of £37.1 million and has under two years remaining on his current contract.

Jose Mourinho has used Mata regularly this season, with the Spaniard appearing 14 times in all competitions, but the midfielder’s father, Juan senior, has suggested his son could be open to leaving Old Trafford next summer.

‘This season we have entered a new path with Mourinho,’ Mata senior told Fanatik.

‘However, at the end of the season we will sit down and evaluate our future more seriously.

‘Fenerbahce one of the options? Why not?’
