According to reports, the Kebbi Government has distributed 13 motorcycles to environmental health officers of the Ministry of Environment in the state to enhance their service delivery.
The State’s Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Muhammadu Gado, distributed the vehicles in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
He said that the aim was to ease the transportation challenges facing the health officers in the discharge of their duties.
He said the state government was doing its best to ensure that the health officers were doing their work effectively in sanitising the environment from any disease
He called on the beneficiaries to utilise the motorcycles for the purpose it was meant for.
Earlier, the Director of Public Health in the Ministry, Alhaji Nasiru Argungu, said the state government had earlier promised to assist the staff in reducing the transportation hardship they faced in the discharge of their duties.
He said the distribution of the motorcycles was in fulfilment of the promise made by the government to assist the officers.
He urged the staff not to relent in their efforts in ensuring the promotion of hygienic environment and routine sanitation.
Alhaji Hussaini Mohammad, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the government for the gesture.
He assured that the motorcycles would be used for the purpose they were meant for, adding that they would discharge their duties effectively.
