Philippe Coutinho had tests on a tight hamstring injury and is a doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Southampton.

Club sources have confirmed that the scans are ‘precautionary’ but the midfielder missed Thursday’s training session.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the Brazilian will travel with the squad for Saturday’s Premier League fixture.

The 24-year-old returned from international duty with Brazil alongside Roberto Firmino on Wednesday evening after the club paid for a private jet to rush the duo back.

Coutinho played nearly a full game in both of Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers during the international break, while Firmino was an unused substitute in the 2-0 victory over Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

  1. It's wise Coutinho should be left out of Southampton's match to avoid deterioration of the injury! Liverpool have enough and very potent strikers to do grievous harm to the Saints at the Saint Mary's stadium! It's in defense LFC are lean! J. Klopp should also start rotating his players to avoid burnt- out of favored players towards end of season! Every player needs to be exposed and well grounded to contest for the title this season!! You'll Never Walk Alone!!
