Manchester United will reportedly have to pay Bastian Schweinsteiger’s wages in FULL to release the German midfielder from Old Trafford.
The 32-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements at the Theatre of Dreams and Jose Mourinho left the veteran out of the side’s Europa League squad.
Schweinsteiger said he will not play for another European club if he leaves the Red Devils but possible suitors have been put off by his huge wage demands.
The former Germany captain is on around £150,000-a-week at Old Trafford and Squawka claim the midfielder wants his wages paid in full if he is to leave the club.
With 18 months left to run on Schweinsteiger’s contract, that fee would amount to around £13.8million.
The midfielder made just 18 league appearances for the club last season and is open to moving to the MLS.
United are said to be hopeful of agreeing a lower compensation package with the player’s representatives.
