The 27-year-old hasn’t been seen in a United shirt since he was hauled off at half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford on September 10.

Mkhitaryan had been sidelined with a thigh injury but Jose Mourinho insisted before United’s goalless draw with Liverpool that the midfielder is available for selection.

But the summer signing from Borussia Dortmund has failed to make United’s last five matchday squads and was spotted watching from the stands at Old Trafford in Saturday’s stalemate against Burnley.

And on Sunday, Mkhitaryan was pictured leaving United’s Aon Training Complex but the rest of his fellow team-mates were absent.

Mkhitaryan also broke his silence on his omission from Mourinho’s side with a rare update on social media.

The Armenia international posted on Sunday: ‘Better days will come for us! We march on. One for all and all for one! #mufc’
