The president of the Armenian FA claims the struggling Manchester United summer signing has not been given any explanation over his exclusion from the team.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan remains in the dark about Jose Mourinho’s plans for him at Manchester United, according to the president of the Armenian football federation Ruben Hayrapetyan.
The summer arrival from Borussia Dortmund has not featured for the Old Trafford outfit since their Premier League defeat to Manchester City on September 10.
In his absence, Manchester United have slipped to eighth in the table after going winless in their last four Premier League games and scoring just one goal in that torrid run.
However, Mourinho has yet to turn to Mkhitaryan to reverse that slump despite declaring he has faith in him, and Hayrapetyan has stated that the midfielder has received no indication of the Portuguese’s plans.
“I cannot know what the Manchester manager is thinking about,” the official told Armenpress. “I have talked with Mkhitaryan, he also doesn’t know what Jose Mourinho is thinking.
“Mkhitaryan trains and is in good shape but no one knows the reason [why he is not playing].”
The 27-year-old arrived at United for a sum in the region of £27 million but has only featured in five matches in all competitions so far.
