Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has fired back over claims that the former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro gave him looted funds to finance his election.

Fayose, who denied the allegations in a statement, said rather than dissipating energy on what he described as “Fayose must be implicated at all cost” project, the Federal Government should “pay attention to hunger and suffering ravaging Nigeria and its people and leave me alone.”

In the statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said: “This project ‘Fayose must be implicated at all cost’ will definitely not put food on the tables of Nigerians and for all I care, the EFCC and its collaborators can keep running from pillar to post while I keep delivering good governance to Ekiti and its people.”

The statement said, “The governor dismissed the reported claim that former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro confessed to the EFCC that he received fund from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) to fund his election.”

According to Fayose, “We have gone past this stage of media trial. EFCC should rather keep its gun powder dry; when we get to the bridge, we will cross it. They said more than this in the 2006 poultry scam blackmail; despite that, I am the governor today.”

Governor Fayose said he was “only reacting just to fulfil all righteousness because Nigerians are more interested in having food on their tables,” saying “those who arranged the dramatic and compromised return of Senator Obanikoro to Nigeria obviously did so in continuation of their project ‘Fayose must be implicated at all cost’ but I am not bothered because my election was legitimately funded.”

  1. Is there no hunger and suffering in Ekiti state ?
Fayose does not really understand what he is up against
He will leave the governor's lodge straight to prison at the end of his miserable term

Now you said Gov. Fayose will go straight to prison after his term? Well it's possible coz politics in Nigeria is about padi padi, we can ever know the truth about this case, just as the death of MKO, Bola Ige, and those who are baking Boko haram.
Who is lying ? Only God knows

      1. Is this the elightenment you have to offer of if I may use your unenlightened word "enlite"
It's a pity you cannot write in your language on this forum, else you could have done better writing in your dialect

  2. Nigerians are the easiest people to manipulate in the world, no wonder your life's are miserable. Your mind are like helicopters propellers, rotating to every direction as soon as switches on. Who organised the return of Obanikoro? What do they promised him? What must he do to be left alone? Instead of us analysing the development of the case, we take the bate immediately. Cash payment In deed.

  5. Well I'm not backing Fayose coz I don't know what really happened, but then I think its only f**l can behave like Obanikoro, you gave such huge amount of money out without any prove , what he's saying is just word of mouth, we need prove, such as paper work signed by Fayose. I think Fayose will definitely get away with this one though

  8. Now I have a better understanding why we are where we are as a country as I read through these comments...is it not possible to have intelligent discussions without abusing each other?if the EFCC have all it takes (facts) to jail Obanikoro,Fayose,Fani Kayode, his wife ,their 8 month old baby,Dasuki,Patience Jonathan,Jonathan himself, the judges and many many many others in detention or otherwise, they should stop spreading falsehood and organizing media trials....make EFCC quietly, kukuma, sharperly, fast fast arraign them and let justice prevail,SHIKENA.
PLEASE let's engage with wisdom and decorum...I believe in a better Nigeria someday.

  13. I expected Uncle Fayose to deny and he never disappointed me. The ideal thing an accused person does is to plead not guilty. He denied Obanikoro. He claimed Obanikoro was paid to implicate him. He once said Zenith Bank sponsored him during the election. He persecutes Zenith Bank in Ekiti State for denying him. Thousands of Ekiti indigene may loose their jobs with Zenith Bank. All these he does to cover truth will never sail through. Let's leave EFCC to carry on with the investigations. I pray that the truth be revealed sooner.
