Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has suffered a low grade muscle tear, the Chilean Football Association have confirmed.

The 27-year-old played for 90 minutes during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and was forced to leave Chile’s training camp on Tuesday after complaining about a calf problem.

Arsene Wenger’s side face Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain after the international break, before crucial games against West Ham and Basel.

Gooners are undestandably worried that they will be without the star man for their upcoming fixtures and the Chilean FA have confirmed that the forward’s suffered a low grade tear in his calf.

A statement from the ANFP, Chile’s national football association, read: ‘The medical team of the Chilean national team can confirm Alexis Sanchez has a low grade muscle tear.

‘The player will stay in Santiago, under treatment and evaluation, ahead of Chile’s match against Uruguay.’
