The viral photos of a parent’s inhumanity to child in the name of tribal marking which was exposed few hours ago, has gotten the attention of a popular federal lawmaker and Nollywood actress.

Ealier today, we reported that a photo which has already gone viral on social media, showed a young toddler who has just been met with cruelty of the highest order by his/her parents.

Nigeria Journalist, Aishat Alubankudi who posted the photo on Facebook, called on the members of the National Assembly to enact a law that would stop the tribal mark practice in Nigeria.

Just like we all expected, the viral photo got the attention of a lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye who took to his Instagram page and revealed that he will sponsor a bill to end the barbaric act.

“This barbaric act must stop. Support me to sponsor a bill to stop this outrageous wickedness. National identity card is enough,” the senator wrote.

Adding to the issue, popular Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, also took to her Instagram page to throw her support to Senator Dino Melaye who promised to sponsor a bill at the upper legislative chamber in the federal capital, Abuja.

“I support a Bill against this practice. Like female mutilation, or child marriage, No permanent/life impairing decision should be taken on behalf of a child,” she wrote on social media.

  1. Extremely barbaric! This is very painful on that innocent baby. Infact, i think there's a remedy whilst the baby is still young they can remove that mark from his face. Senator Dino should pls see to it and then sponsor a bill to stop the reoccurrence of such

  2. THE TRIBAL MARKS IS GBOMBO, FROM OGBOMOSO, LAW AGAINST IS A GOOD WAY, BUT EDUCATION AND INFORMATION, IS VITAL, THE LAW MAY MEETS A REAL STUBBING BLOCK, IF THE PRACTITIONERS OF SUCH ACTS ARE NOT WELL INFORMED
