Paul Pogba’s struggles for Manchester United carried over to France’s national side as the midfielder failed to deliver in Friday’s 4-1 victory over Bulgaria.
The £89 million summer signing is yet to rediscover his best form since his return to Old Trafford, but even in France’s latest comfortable win, Pogba couldn’t find his feet.
The 23-year-old was given a four in L’Equipe’s post-match player ratings – the lowest mark of any player in Didier Deschamps’ side.
Kevin Gameiro’s double, plus strikes from Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann secured the win at the Stade de France.
‘Paul can and must do better. He knows that,’ Deschamps said after the match.
‘But he did not play in a position that highlights him. In this position, his role is more about the construction of the game. He has everything to do it.
‘He did good things tonight. And some others that were less good.’
