Yaya Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk has launched another scathing attack on Pep Guardiola, calling the Manchester City manager two-faced and demanded that he show respect.

The ongoing drama between the trio has dragged on since the summer, when Toure – who left Barcelona in 2010 while Guardiola was coach there – was excluded from City’s Champions League squad.

Seluk hit out at the Catalan for the first time then and Guardiola threatened not to play his client again until he received an apology, which has not yet been forthcoming.

And the agent has now escalated the matter by claiming he has been met with a wall of silence when he attempted to contact Guardiola, calling his exile of Toure personal and revenge for their time at Barcelona.

“When Yaya was left out of the Champions League squad, I called Pep. I wanted to ask him his reasons, but he didn’t call me back,” Seluk told the Daily Mirror.

“I also tried to call [City director] Txiki [Begiristain] – but he didn’t call me back either. So I don’t think the club can criticise me for doing an interview in the newspaper when they wouldn’t even talk to me.

“Pep talks about respect. But to get respect you have to show it. Before City played at the Nou Camp, I called Pep again. I wanted to ask him if we could meet for talks while he was in Barcelona.

“I also called Txiki. But nothing came back. I sent them texts also, but again there was nothing back. I have the phone records to prove this.

“I was not making contact to apologise – but neither Pep or Txiki knew this. Why should I apologise when I am guilty of nothing but telling the truth?

“My idea was to talk man-to-man, to find out how we can move things forward for the best interests of Manchester City and Yaya.

“All I got was silence. So it must be clear to everyone that Pep isn’t looking for an apology. It is about him turning Sheikh Mansour and the City fans against a player who loves the club.

“Pep is allowing his ego to make decisions that aren’t in the best interests of Manchester City.”

ge on Toure, adding: “I know what his [Guardiola’s] problem is. When Pep forced Yaya out of Barcelona I criticised him.

“This is his revenge. And it is personal, not professional. I asked City in the summer if they wanted Yaya to leave and was told that he was part of the plan.

“It is now clear that wasn’t the truth. I think the plan was to humiliate Yaya – and all the other players who have made history for Manchester City in the last six years.

“Yaya isn’t the only one. [Joe] Hart and [Samir] Nasri have also paid because they are big personalities.

“Pep doesn’t want to work with men. He wants to work with players who are very young because he can control them like children.

“Pep smiles at you. He makes you believe he is your best friend – and then he betrays you.”

And Seluk believes Guardiola’s stubbornness and refusal to play Toure during their recent six-game unbeaten run is hurting the club, stating the midfielder was in a position to help the team earn results but overlooked.

“Pep knew that he needed Yaya in this period. Yaya would have been perfect to play against Manchester United,” he continued. “But instead of swallowing his pride and asking Yaya to play, he preferred to lose a derby game.

“I don’t think City fans will be happy about that.”

Seluk also went into the conspiracy he believes swirled around City when Guardiola was announced as the incoming manager in the middle of last season, when former boss Manuel Pellegrini was fighting to earn results.

“Why do you think that Guardiola was announced as the next City manager last season?” questioned the representative. “It was because they knew that Pellegrini had a great chance of winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

“They didn’t want that to happen because Pep took over at Bayern Munich after they had won both titles and he could not improve on that.

“They wanted to make it impossible for Pellegrini to succeed.”

Despite Toure’s struggles, Seluk went to lengths to insist the Ivorian will not leave the club in January and prefers to fight for his place: “Yaya won’t leave in January. That might make it easier for the men in charge, but he will not take the easy way out.

“Yaya is a professional. He is in great shape. He could play tomorrow. He has given everything to City for almost seven years. He has made history – like Hart and Nasri – and then they are treated by Pep like they are nothing.

“Yaya should be made an ambassador for Manchester City when he retires. But the men who control the club don’t want him to be remembered as a legend.

“If anyone deserves an apology it is Yaya, Sheikh Mansour and City’s fans – from Pep Guardiola.”
