It was gathered that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that the Police were already under severe pressure to drop charges against those already in its custody in connection with the printing of fake results sheets of the Independent National Electoral Commission.


Wike said this against the backdrop of the arrest of four persons by the police in connection with the printing of the INEC result sheet by the police on Saturday.

The Police on Saturday raided the printing press located at 12, Isiokpo Street, D-Line, Port Harcourt based in a tip-off.

When the police operatives arrived, the press was printing fake result sheets for seven local government areas of Rivers South-East.

Four persons, including the owner of the press, Atonye Peterside.

Others arrested were Richard Koko from Okrika, Nanee Godday from Khana and Tammy Garrick.

Wike said on Sunday: “I made sure they videoed the documents to ensure the evidence is not killed or destroyed before handing them over to the police.

“The police are now saying they are under pressure not to charge the suspects to court.”

Nnamdi Omoni, the Public Relations Officer of the command, said the suspects were arrested on Saturday at D/Line area of Port Harcourt.

He said personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department made the arrest.

He said: “I can confirm the arrest of three suspects.

“The matter is with us and the Commissioner of Police has ordered discreet investigation.

“I can assure you that it is being given adequate attention and at the end of investigation, we will come out with our position.”

  1. Wike's tactics of always crying wolf when he wants to divert people's attention will not work this time around. I ask: who told him that the Police is under pressure to drop the charges against the men, is it the "Police" he used and if yes, who are the people mounting the pressure? He must tell us, Nigerians now know better that one tout just come and say anything without proof.
