Two men, Ezekiel Yusuf, 29, and Musa Abubakar,25, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 23-year-old girl who hawks pawpaw.


Yusuf and Abubakar, lured the pawpaw seller (names withheld) to an apartment along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on the pretence that they wanted to buy pawpaw.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirming the statement, said the victim was hawking sliced pawpaw fruit along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, when Yusuf Ezekiel lured her into his apartment pretending he wanted to buy pawpaw from her.

“It was while she was shouting that the people around came to her rescue and subsequently reported to the police.

“The DPO of Ojodu Abiodun, SP Bamidele Job, quickly dispatched detectives to the scene and two suspects were promptly arrested.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, for further investigation and prosecution,” the PPRO added.
