Fifteen years on, 9/11 seared into New York history

Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has urged the club’s president, Florentino Perez, to offer him a new 10-year deal.

The Portugal captain made his first appearance of this season and scored, as Madrid defeated Osasuna 5-2 on Saturday.

Ronaldo’s current deal expires in June 2018, but his agent, Jorge Mendes and Perez are already in talks over a contract extension.

Asked about the latest on that contract extension in the Bernabeu mixed zone after the game, the 31-year-old said:”I don’t know, you would have to talk with the president. Things are going well. The media have written it already, you know more than me. If I were the Madrid president, I would give me 10 more years.”

  1. I think just for his own career and longevity he should look to rotate and do some game management. What is the point in staying for the full 90 mins against the like of Granada or Celta Vigo when you have scored a hattrick and the scoreline is like 5-0. With some good rotation and management he will be in peak condition towards the business end of the season where trophies are won and legacies are made.

  2. He wants a contract to cover his retirement period. At about 32 now, what will Ronaldo be doing for Real Madrid in 10 years time when he would be about 42 years? He obviously wants an insurance against future likely dwindling form!
