    Falana asks EFCC to probe FG over $4bn recovered Abacha loot

    A human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has petitioned the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, asking him to probe the Federal Government over the $4bn recovered from the late maximum ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha.

    Falana said in a letter on Saturday that the Federal Government had failed to account for the money which was recovered in tranches between 1998 and 2014.

    Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, has asked the federal government to reject the conditionality attached to the repatriation of late military ruler Sani Abacha’s loot in Switzerland.

    In a letter addressed to Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Falana describes the Swiss government’s conditions for returning $321m of Abacha’s loot to Nigeria as an insult.

    We will not pay US-based lawyer 40 percent of Abacha’s loot – FG

    The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on Thursday, dismissed the claim by a US-based Nigerian lawyer, Godson Nnaka, who said he was entitled to 40 percent of the $550m Abacha loot the US government is about to return to Nigeria.

    In a 44-page document, Malami said the Nigerian government will not pay the amount Nnaka is asking for because he is not qualified to practise law in the Maryland area where the case is taking place.
