According to reports, the National Judicial Council (NJC) has formally barred judges and court staff from soliciting or accepting gifts from other arms of government.
In a statement issued yesterday, in Abuja, the NJC reiterated its independence as an arm of government and has outlawed any form of lobbying of other arms of government by the Judiciary or any of its institutions.
It has also outlined new measures to curb corruption and other unethical conduct among judicial officers and other court staff.
According to reports, the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Thursday said only former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan should be thanked for conceding defeat in the 2015 presidential election.

According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has arrested Uzodinma Agbazue, a deputy detective superintendent of the agency, for allegedly collecting a N15 million bribe.
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the commission, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
Uwujaren said Agbazue was arrested following a complaint by a lawmaker currently under investigation.
