    Anambra and Cross River to partner South Africa on agriculture – Consul General

    Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, Nigeria`s Consul General in South Africa, said on Friday that Anambra and Cross River officials would visit South Africa in January 2017 to seal a partnership deal on agriculture.

    Ajulu-Okeke told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the visit was part of the Federal Government`s intervention programme on agriculture.

    The Benue state Government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding worth €400 million, with the Humanitarian Environmental Project Company  for the mechanisation of agriculture in the state.

    Buhari estimates agriculture losses to be at $9 billion, blames lack of processing facilities

    President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the huge post-harvest losses incurred by farmers across the country on lack of processing facilities, with losses estimated to be about $9bn annually.

    Buhari said this at the 20th anniversary of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Joint Venture’s Farmers’ Day which held in Yenagoa over the weekend. He said the Federal Government was solving the processing problems through the Ministry of Agriculture.
