    APC begs Senate to approve Buhari’s $29.9bn loan request

    It was gathered that the South-East Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has appealed to the Senate to reverse its decision to reject President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to borrow N29.9bn.

    The Senate voted against the request on Tuesday.

    However, the South-East APC is begging the lawmakers to reverse the decision.

    In a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Mr. Hyancinth Ngwu, and made available to journalists in Enugu, the APC in the South-East equally condemned the rejection of the proposed loan.

    According to reports, the Senate should approve President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for authorisation to borrow $30 billion (about N9.61 trillion), and should do so quickly, the Director-General, Debt Management Office, Abraham Nwankwo, has said.

    Reps approve N5m fine for illegally registered SIM cards

    It was gathered that the House of Representatives has passed for a second reading a Bill seeking to compel corporate bodies to pay the sum N5 million penalty against the sale of illegally registered SIM cards in the country.

    According to the Bill which was jointly sponsored by Rep. Nicholas Ossai (PDP-Delta) and Rep. Peter Akpatason (APC-Edo) also proposed N500, 000 fine or an option of six months imprisonment against individuals liable of using the illegally registered and pre-registered SIM cards.
