According to reports, the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, on Tuesday appointed 1,106 persons into various positions.
The positions were in the categories of special advisers, special assistants, personal assistants as well as the chairmen and members of boards, commissions, departments and agencies.
The governor had, in a parley with journalists in August, reiterated his decision to appoint over 1,000 political appointees for poverty alleviation in the state.

In order to sustain the prevailing peace in Calabar, the Cross River governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, on Wednesday demanded heavy presence of military operatives in the State.
He made the appeal when the Chief of army staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, paid him a courtesy visit in Calabar.

Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade has said his administration’s policy thrust is to ensure 24-hour power supply in most parts of the state starting with Calabar, the state capital.
The governor stated this while receiving the management team of Skipperseil of United Arab Emirate (UAE) who arrived the state to commence construction of a 100 megawatt solar farm.
