The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENGW, and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, have called off their industrial action.
The decision to call of the strike by both union was taken after a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.
Recall that both unions recently embarked an industrial action due to some unresolved issues by the Federal Government relating to the welfare of oil workers among other
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has urged workers in the state to call off their strike and hold talks with the government.
The governor said the salaries for local government workers were ready for payment, with limited additional funds available for sharing.
However, he said, nothing could be done because civil servants were on strike had critical roles to play in the disbursement of the funds.
