    Borno governor donates N10 million to Lt. Col. Ali’s widow

    Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State on Friday presented a N10million cheque to Samira, widow of army commander, Lt. Col Abu Ali who was killed in Malam-Fatori, headquarters of Abadam local government area of Borno State on November 4.

    Col. Ali was the commanding officer of 272 Task Force Tank Battalion until he was killed along with some of his men following an ambush by Boko Haram fighters.

    According to reports, the House of Representatives on Tuesday recommended that a Nigerian soldier who died over the weekend be given a posthumous promotion to be a colonel.

    Muhammad Abu-Ali died in a Boko Haram ambush on Friday night as a lieutenant colonel.

    The proposal by the House followed a motion of urgent national concern raised by one of its members from Sokoto, Abdulsamad Dasuki.
