    NCCE concludes verification of Private Colleges of Education

    According to reports, the National Commission for Colleges of Education on Thursday said it has concluded the verification of almost all the Private Colleges of Education across the federation.

    Suleiman Garba, the Deputy Director Press of the NCCE, made the assertion on Wednesday in Abuja in a statement.

    More than 35 of the 62 private colleges of education verified were given provisional approval to operate by the commission.

    A don, Prof. Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, on Friday urged the Federal Government to upgrade the nation’s polytechnics and Colleges of Education, in order to enhance quality education at all levels.

    Ibidapo-Obe gave advice while delivering a Lecture at 15th Matriculation Ceremony of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun for the 2016/2017 Academic Session.

    A former Speaker, House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has said the nation’s colleges of education should have the highest cut-off points.

    He said they should also attract the smartest applicants because they were crucial to development of the future of the country.
