    Police cannot act as complainant – Court strikes out 2-year old case

    An Enugu North Magistrates’ Court on Thursday struck out a two-year-old case involving one Henry Eze who was charged with malicious damage of properties worth N25,000.

    The Magistrate, Mr Lawrence Ukpai, had adjourned the case on three previous dates to no avail as the complainant, one Elon, failed to show up in court on all adjourned dates.

    Court strikes out Governor Fayose’s request to stop EFCC probe

    A High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has declined to grant an ex parte order sought by the Ayo Fayose administration to restrain the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating the finances of the state.

    Justice Cornelius Akintayo refrained from granting the order on the grounds that all the defendants in the case should be put on notice to prepare for their defence at the court.
