    Presidency laments execution of Nigerian in Singapore

    The Presidency has lamented the execution of Chijoke Obioha, a Nigerian footballer who was recently executed in Singapore for drug trafficking.

    The 35-year-old footballer was said to have gone to the Asian country for trials when he was caught trafficking 2.5kg 0f cannabis on April 9, 2007.

    Consequently, he was sentenced to death about four years ago and remained on the death row until he was executed yesterday.

    Singapore executes Nigerian for drug trafficking

    Two foreigners, including a Nigerian convicted of drug trafficking have been executed in Singapore.

    Singaporean authorities confirmed this a day after the city-state’s highest court rejected final bids for both men to escape the gallows.

    The Nigerian and Malaysian were hanged after their last minute appeals were thrown out.

    Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Church, popularly called MFM, has denied that eight Nigerians arrested by Cambodian authorities for alleged drug trafficking are its members.
