    NFF boss confirms Egypt friendly called off

    President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has confirmed a proposed friendly against AFCON-bound Egypt will no longer be played in January.

    He said the friendly was off because there were some conditions Nigeria could not meet like parading the country’s top Europe-based professionals as it will not be a FIFA-friendly window.

    Pinnick said they are now shopping for other friendlies for the Super Eagles as a result of this cancellation.

    A Kogalymavia passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt’s Sinai penunsula. The airliner took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik this morning, and was heading for Russia, according to aviation sources, when it disappeared from radar. It’s believed the plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.

    The plane was carrying 212 passengers and 7 crew members. 17 of the passengers are children.

    It was reported that an Egypt court has sentenced former President Mohamed Morsi to death for a mass prison break in 2011.
    The court ruled on Saturday that the sentencing of Morsi and 105 others will be referred to the Grand Mufti, the highest religious authority in Egypt, for confirmation.

    Many of those sentenced were tried in absentia, including Yusuf al-Qaradawi, an influential Islamic scholar based in Qatar.
