    Count me out of alleged impeachment plot against Fayose – Ekiti lawmaker

    According to reports, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, has debunked insinuations that some perceived enemies of Governor Ayodele Fayose within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were ganging up with some lawmakers to impeach the governor.

    Addressing a press conference in Ado Ekiti, Aribisogan said those peddling the rumour were not only plotting to divide the Assembly, but have also begun desperate moves for the 2019 elections.

    Court removes Ekiti lawmaker over ‘fraudulent judgment’

    The judicial hammer fell yesterday on a member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Musa Arogundade, as a Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti nullified his election.

    It ordered that he be replaced by his challenger, Toyin Obayemi, as the lawmaker representing Ado Constituency 1.

    The court, in the judgment delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, withdrew Arogundade’s Certificate of Return and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Obayemi a fresh Certificate of Return.

    Court orders DSS to pay N5m to detained Ekiti lawmaker

    According to reports, the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday ordered the Department of State Services to pay a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Afolabi Akanni, N5m damages for his illegal arrest.

    The court condemned his arrest and “continued detention for 18 harrowing, excruciating and brain cudgeling days, without access to his lawyers and family.”
