    Lagos State cancels monthly environmental sanitation exercise, due to present economic realities

    According to reports, the Lagos State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise held every last Saturday of the month.

    The cancellation followed a resolution arrived at in Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting which approved the need for a review of the environmental laws and procedures in the state in order to meet the present day challenges and to promote a clean and healthy.

    Kebbi Government distributes 13 motorcycles to environmental health officers

    According to reports, the Kebbi Government has distributed 13 motorcycles to environmental health officers of the Ministry of Environment in the state to enhance their service delivery.

    The State’s Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Muhammadu Gado, distributed the vehicles in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

    According to reports from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) came a disclosure yesterday that it could still take between 25 to 30years for the realisation of full environmental restoration of Ogoniland.

    The UNEP similarly declared that due to the wide extent of contamination in Ogoniland and nearby areas, coupled with the varying degrees of degradation, there would not be one single clean-up technique appropriate for the entire area.
