    Ex-militants Threaten To Close CBN Branches In Niger Delta

    Ex-militants of the Niger Delta region yesterday reaffirmed their threat to close down Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) branches in the Niger-Delta region on the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum they issued to the apex bank to pay up three months arrears allegedly owed them. They warned that the ultimatum expires Monday next week.

    Former Niger Delta militants, under the auspices of the Second Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Saturday, distanced themselves from a report that they threatened to attack branches of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over unpaid stipends.

    The Federal Government will train 500 ex-militants in agriculture and aquaculture under its amnesty programme, an official has said.

    The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Paul Boro, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria shortly after his visit to Bio-resources Development Centre (BIODEC), Odi in Bayelsa.
