    NSCDC arrests fake currency printer, five area boys in Sokoto

    It was gathered that the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Sokoto State have arrested one Collins Nzewewe for alleged printing of fake currencies.

    The Commandant of the corps in the state, Abdullahi Dutsin-ma, presented the suspect to newsmen on Thursday in Sokoto.

    Dutsin-ma said that the command arrested the suspect following a tip off.

    The 42-year-old Nzewewe and father of seven, confessed to newsmen that he was lured into the illegal business by a Nigerien National, called Abdulaziz.

    Fully-armed suspected cattle rustlers on Monday killed five persons in Gbada community in Kaure, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

    Oyo shuts five schools over protests on promotion policy

    According to reports, the Oyo State Government on Thursday shut five schools indefinitely over the protests on cancellation of automatic promotion in public schools.

    Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, announced this at a news conference in Ibadan.

    Three of the five schools are located in Oyo East and Atiba Local Government Areas, while the remaining two are in Akinyele.

    According to reports, the Nasarawa State Government says it has removed five principals from different schools for charging fees from students.

     

    Ramatu Ajuji-Abubakar, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, made this known during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Lafia on Tuesday.
