    Arik Air announces flights reduction over aviation fuel scarcity

    Arik Air on Wednesday announced reduction of flights due to the lingering scarcity of JET A1.

    The airline made the announcement in a statement by its Communications Manager, Mr. Ola Adebanji, in Lagos.

    Arik Air said that aviation fuel scarcity started manifesting last week when major oil marketers began to ration supply of the product to airlines.

    Arik tops NCAA’s delayed, cancelled flights chart

    Domestic airlines operating in Nigeria recorded 16,353 cases of delayed flights between January and June, statistics from the Consumer Protection Department of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have revealed.

    A document issued by the department and obtained on Thursday in Lagos, shows that 30,100 flights were operated by eight airlines during the period under review.

    According to the document, 601 flights were cancelled for various reasons by the airlines.

    The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has threatened disciplinary measures to three pilots who have faulted in their conducts in the course of their duties.

     

    The three pilots suspended by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for taking alcohol before operating their flights are to undergo psychiatric evaluation before rejoining the service.

    Arik Air denies suspending Lagos-Accra flights

    Arik Air on Thursday said it has not suspended flight operations to Accra, Ghana.

    But, Aero and Dana Airlines have temporarily suspended operations on the route, for reasons industry hinted borders on limited access to foreign exchange, non-availability of aircraft to service the route and other factors.
