    Don’t use rickety vehicles this festive period, FRSC warns

    The Federal Road Safety Corps has warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, against using rickety vehicles during the festive period to reduce accidents and deaths on the highways.

    FRSC Sector Commander in Lagos State, Hygenius Omeje, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos.

    FRCS denies recruiting personnel in Kebbi

    The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kebbi has refuted allegation of the recruitment of 200 employees by the Corps.

    The Sector Commandant of the corps in the state, Mr James Mbatse, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday that there was no recruitment throughout this year in the country by the corps.

    Following upsurge in violent attacks and killing of some of its operatives during legitimate duties, the officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, have been licensed to carry fire-arms.

    Mr Umoru Abdullahi, FRSC Unit Commander in Ore, Ondo State, has told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that it will restrict inter-state traffic during Saturday’s Governorship Election in Ondo State, adding that the restriction would start from 8:00 am and end at 2:00 pm.

    Lagos-Ibadan/Abuja-Lokoja routes record highest accident rate, says FRSC

    According to reports, the Federal Road Safety Commission on Thursday identified the Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja–Lokoja roads as corridors with the highest accident rate with a record of more than 87 cases in September.

    It was gathered that the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Jigawa Sector Command, said on Friday it had impounded 35 cars and 20 motorcycles for various traffic offences in the state.
